3rd Internationalist Youth Festival in Greece

3rd Internationalist Youth Festival in Greece

Athens, 18-19-20 June 2010

While Greece remains in the epicenter of the turmoils breaking throughout Europe amidst the deepening global crisis, an experiment that we started three years ago gradually grows and becomes an institution of the youth and popular movement: The 3rd edition of RESISTANCE FESTIVAL is already under preparation, and we invite you to be part of it! Come in Athens on 18, 19 and 20 June 2010, make another step forward in building the unity of our struggles that is today more necessary than ever, and make your voice heard together with ours. This year, Resistance Festival 2010 will take the colors of the protest against the new occupation of Greece by the EU and the IMF; so… we cannot promise you a “regular” situation, but we feel that this will not bother your will to join us!

We are planning public debates with international guests – a few proposals:

  • Will the PIGS be striking back? The European Left questioned
  • From bankruptcy to revolt: Argentina is calling Europe!
  • Global capitalist crisis: Is there a liberating way out?

Ideas for public debates with Greek guests (simultaneous translation into English and Spanish):

  • The EMU and the euro: A daydream turned into nightmare?
  • The Greek Left on the crossroads

Proposals for thematic spaces:

  • The doughty deeds of the IMF - 65 years of destruction
  • The Icelandic example: both sides of the coin
  • Palestine means Resistance and Dignity
  • Bologna keeps burning - The students’ perspective

Resistance Festival 2010 will take place, as in the previous years, in the familiar location of the Agricultural University of Athens. The delegations will be lodged in the camping within the university campus, or in hotels nearby. Check the website www.resistancefestival.gr, which will be soon updated with the necessary information about the 2010 edition of our festival.
